THE EXHIBITION
process
Making the canvas included putting together the four pieces of wood for the base. Since I did not want my paintings to be too big, I chose to create three canvases with the measurements of 1 foot by 2 feet. I stapled the edges so that the base would not move or come apart during the process, then I laid the fabric over the base and stapled one side on the back. I made sure to leave fabric on the back so that it would not rip off during the process. Once all three canvases were made and stapled, I had to apply gesso onto them. This creates a proper base for the application of the paint so it will not seep into the canvas, itself. I made sure to apply the gesso in one direction only - left and right - so it would appear nice and even. Once all three canvases dried, I applied a second coat to all three canvases. I then created the paint for the second canvas with a green color. Because I wanted a lighter version of army green, I had to work off of the white paint first and add to that rather than adding other colors to the green. I also added a small amount of brown paint in order to get that army green color I wanted. I also had to repeat this process because the first few attempts to create the color I had wanted turned out too dark.
INSPIRATIONThe picture on the right was one of my inspirations do to a sad time in my life i could relate to but I wanted it to be happy so I put it in reverse. I was really drawn to this art piece at first Then I explored the idea and kinda changed my idea.
I really enjoyed look at the colors and how the white flower stood out on a dark background. There was very little detail but enough to paint and present a good picture.

reflection
While creating this project I had a lot more good then I had bad times, for example when I had to create each board it took about 15 minutes each to get them fully complete. At first I really enjoyed this artwork, but then when I got to the third piece I made the flower a lot bigger than the second one. So I had to go all the way back and make them all the correct size. Which took even more time not to mention I had to remake every single color.
experimentation
While I was painting I choose to blend the center of the flower with the petals and it gave it a yellow tent and to make the flower flow better and look more natural rather than just a block of yellow and pink paint next to each other.
