EXPEDITION TEXT
For this piece I wanted to demonstrate a mothers love, past, hurt, and strength and how it reflects in a child. I targeted more to a mother and daughter relationship, but it could work with ant gender of a child. As you can see the art work on the left is more messed up more cuts not so "perfect" as the one on the right. When the one on the right looks more of a beauty "awe"look to it. I did this to portray that the "mom" has went through things in the past it has hurt her yet she remains strong and beautiful. When the one on the left looks like "she" didn't go through as much pain and hurt, therefore she is delegate and didn't blossom as much as the "mother". The two art works that I have are too completely different ideas one is a actual mother and daughter and the other one is just a vase of flowers.

inspiration
Vase with Fifteen Sunflowers Painting by Vincent van Gogh was done at two different times. There are also two different types of sunflowers in the photo one that is more blossomed and the other one is getting there. Gives two different perspectives, which goes back to what I was saying about my art the ones that aren't fully blossomed are standing up tall and straight. On the other hand the ones that fully done growing have more dent and more like in a falling motion. Which can symbolize the older or there past.

Vase with Fifteen Sunflowers
Painting by Vincent van Gogh In this art you actually see a mother and daughters love This is the virgin Mary breastfeeding Christ which is a huge deal. Showing the love and how the mom and baby have a connection (literally) is a big message in the art. Also showing how the mom is looking at the child show and tells a lot about how she cares and feels about him.

planning
The first picture is the design I was going for with two different plates. As you can see the second photo is my sketch and starting to carve the plate. As the pictures go on you can see that i start to carve the plate. In the last picture I added detail so that when I printed it, it would't be so plain.

process
I took water based ink and a metal slab, a Brayer, and a Baron. I started this process by putting water based ink on the metal slab and rolling it with the Brayer. when it was evenly spread I started rolling the ink onto the linoleum slab that I cut my design into with a Brayer. I made sure that the ink was evenly coated on the linoleum slab. After I coated the linoleum plate with ink, I then took a piece of drawing paper and placed it on top of the linoleum plate. I then used the plastic Barron to press the paper into the linoleum plate to create a print. I preferred the plastic Barron as opposed to the Bamboo one because I was able to press harder and with more control.
ReflectionI really enjoyed working on this project it was very stress free. I like it a lot more than the dry point, because I like working backwards and that exactly what this project was. Also I felt that I was able to get my prints done faster and the turned out better. I really think it helps that with block print you get to apply the pressure because you know what areas you want darker and to stand out. While doing my prints i used two different materials one that was more of a wicker basket feel and the other that felt metal plastic like. The second i felt gave better prints and i didn't have to apply much pressure.

EXPERIMENTATION
I had to try multiple prints because the first one didn't turn out as I liked. The first one was dark in certain spots and light around the edges. So I made two prints of each peace and the second print I was more satisfied with.
The two pictures on the right is showing how much ink I applied to the board. The one on the left has less ink on the other hand the one on the right has more ink . You can see that the one with more ink came out better when the one with less ink there where more white spots. I ended up liking the one with less ink tho, because of the look that it gave and it could relate to my story. |

CLEARLY EXPLAIN HOW YOU ARE ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE EFFECT RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN YOUR INSPIRATION AND ITS EFFECT ON YOUR ARTWORK?
I think comparing the two art works can effect it is because mine isn't straight forward it's more open ended and the more you have to express and explain yourself the more it loses meaning.
WHAT IS THE OVERALL APPROACH THE AUTHOR HAS REGARDING THE TOPIC OF YOUR INSPIRATION?
The central idea and theme of all the artworks is a mother and daughters love and how strong the mom is, also how her mistakes make her beautiful and the daughter is getting there.
WHAT KIND OF GENERALIZATIONS AND CONCLUSIONS HAVE YOU DISCOVERED ABOUT PEOPLE, IDEAS, CULTURE,ETC. WHILE YOU RESEARCHED YOUR INSPIRATION?
When working on it I wanted it to have meaning behind it but look simple and nice just like Vincent van Gogh did in his piece. So I felt the only want to do that is take something that everyone finds beauty in flowers.
